Manuscripts and Book Binding
The museum collection of manuscripts and book binding
are relatively few as mostly as gifts,
donations or purchased. It includes calligraphic and gilded Quran books
, illustrated manuscripts and paper fragments with ink drawings excavated at al-Fustat.
The Quran Books represent the Ottoman style
in Arabic writing. Most of the Quran bearing the name of the gilding maker
and date of copying. The collection includes Mamluk Qurans and Qurans with
Persian translation. The prophet
Mohammed biography, history, rare literature and poetry .
