  Restoration of A Turkish Carpet

A competent group of restorers under the supervision of Dr. Saad Yassin restored and re exhibited the precious Turkish carpet made in Cola. Mr. Espatiaf sold the carpet to the Museum of Islamic Arts 1st June 1910; it’s a woolen carpet died in different colors mainly the blue and yellow with a yellow rectangle in the middle, three ribbons form the inner border: the outer ribbon bears small tulip flowers as decoration, the middle one motifs of geometrical designs in different colors, while the inner ribbon is decorated

with arabesque motifs shaped as small butterflies. The central section of the carpet consists of a serrated foil liberating a floral branch bearing apples; a geometrical shape is designed inside each fruit.
